- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Maths at KS3 and GCSE, though I am not a qualified teacher as yet.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am currently studying for a Mathematics and Statistics degree with the Open University, with the view to doing a PGCE in Secondary Maths after that, in order to become a qualified teacher. I have two A*s and an A at A-level, which includes an A* in maths, and also two A's at AS level, one of which is Further Maths.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £12 per hour, paid in cash or by cheque.
- Where do you teach?
I will teach at students' homes, in Huntingdon. This includes Brampton and Godmanchester. At present I cannot travel outside this area.
- When are you available?
I am available Monday, Wednesday and most Friday evenings, from 6:30 pm-9:00pm. During the school holidays (Christmas, Easter and half terms) I am available during the day as well as during the evenings mentioned, though the exact days would have to be arranged. I am not available on Sundays. I am also available on some (but not all) Saturday mornings, 9:00am-1:00 pm.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach KS3 students (ages 11-14) and GCSE students of any ability.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I currently do not tutor online
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Don't be discouraged if you find maths hard, or if it seems to be taking a long time to reach your targets. With a little extra support, maths could become a lot easier, and enjoyable!
- What kind of experience do you have?
In a year 7 maths class, working one-to-one with a student who had difficulty keeping on task. I assisted the teacher in various things such as helping students with their work. Tutored foundation GCSE Maths students once a week. I have also volunteered in a local junior school. I currently assist my parents home school three younger siblings: I help with the maths sometimes and also teach music and some Science. I have experience in working with pupils, especially on a one-to-one basis with those who are not confident in maths. I am also experienced in preparing, setting and marking work.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a CRB check from 2008; at present I do not have a more up-to-date one.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a Student Member of IMA (Institute of Mathematics and its Applications). I also receive regular emails from TES (Times Educational Supplement) which include teaching resources and current opinion.
