I am a 2nd year undergraduate student studying BSc Mathematics at Newcastle University. I am prepared to give 1/2 hours of my time a week to help students studying GCSE and/or A level Mathematics/Further Mathematics with friendly service and clear and understandable ways of putting concepts and explanations across. Lesson plans will be in the hands of the student. Whatever topics they are stuck on that they have been taught in class then I'll help them understand them better. If the student has a good understanding then I'll look to help them build on this knowledge to maximise their grades. I will teach in conjunction with the student's teacher as to keep the student focused purely on one topic at a time which avoids confusion. Students can bring me homework and practice exam questions to go through as well.
As a young undergraduate student who looks to go into teaching in the future I am able to provide fresh and different ideas from a unique perspective that a fully qualified teacher may not be able to provide. Also as I have been at school recently myself, I am able to understand and relate to what students are going through in modern education and dealing with the stress that comes with revision and exams. I had maths tutoring during my GCSEs and A levels so I have experience of the 1 to 1 teaching environment. This helped me achieve an A* at A level Maths and an A at A level Further Maths. I have also instructed children's karate in the past so have experience at teaching youngsters.
