My teaching method involves breaking the problem down to its simplest form to explain the basic concept being studied. It is crucial that the student gains an understanding of the type of problem so that they are able to tackle multiple variations of the problem. Once this has been established, then I believe that it is a case of repetition - practising examples until the solution method has sunk in.
I am a fourth year mechanical engineering student at the University of Glasgow. I have been providing tutoring to my friends and family since high school and take great pride in helping others. My own grades in mathematics prove that I know what it takes to succeed and as an engineering student, I have a great deal of experience in the subject. I would be delighted to share this experience with anyone looking for a tutor.

Kirkcaldy Garden Centre (June 2018 – September 2018)
I worked full-time as a seasonal general garden centre assistant – a position that offered a wide variety of day-to-day responsibilities. This meant that each day was very different to the last – however, the huge range of stock instore required extensive knowledge of the environment which I quickly developed.
Carousel Coffee and Gift Shop (April 2016 – September 2016 and May 2017 – September 2017)
I worked here through the summers of 2016 and 2017, primarily part-time but often I would work full-time hours. This was a busy role that required coordination with my colleagues to keep up to date with orders and ensure the shop was clean and organised.
Sports Direct (December 2015 – January 2016)
My role here was as a sales assistant in the shoe department during the busy Christmas period in 2015/2016. This role involved constant communication with my colleagues through staff radios to ensure that all customers were being attended to as quickly as possible.
Haines Watts Chartered Accountants (July 2015 – August 2015)
I worked full-time as an office assistant during the summer of 2015. I gained valuable knowledge from my co-workers – as there was a lot to grasp in terms of the company’s computer and filing systems.
Personal Honours and Other Relevant Experience
KPMG Discovery Programme
I attended this programme in KPMG’s Glasgow office, which gave me valuable experience within the office of a multinational accountancy firm. There was a significant focus on teamwork, which helped me develop my skills in presentation, interview and problem-solving, as well as learn about realistic business problems.
University of Glasgow Engineering Excellence List
I was named on this list at the end of my first three years at university as my high-grade point average means I am on track for a first-class honours degree and that I have had no requirement for examination resits.
STEM Ambassador for Balwearie High School
Led demonstrations in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in local primary schools. This was challenging but also rewarding as I was responsible for boosting interest in STEM subjects for primary children.
Balwearie High School Young Leader
Part of the Young Leaders team where I took part in a leadership skills training weekend with my peers. I then used these skills and worked in groups to plan projects for the benefit of the school – with particular focus on health and wellbeing.
I am always determined to complete my work to the highest possible standard that I can achieve. I am keen to learn and can work effectively as an individual or as part of a team. I take pride in contributing and don’t shy away from working as part of a group.
I thoroughly enjoy playing/watching sport – particularly football but badminton, basketball and rugby among others. My other interests include music, films and drawing.
