When I first meet with a student I like to spend some time discussing what topic areas are particularly weak or areas in which students are not confident in. I will usually ask students to bring some classwork along with them to help me do this. I then like to discuss with students their goals and how they would like to achieve them. Next, we will come up with a rough plan of topics to cover in a given timeline.
Generally, my tutoring sessions will follow a similar structure to what they will experience in the classroom. I will begin by teaching that weeks topic, followed by practicing some exam questions on that topic. I try to encourage students to do the questions as independently as possible and will only intervene when they are truly stuck. The end of the session will be spent recapping what we have covered and giving the student some more questions to try independently at home, which we then go over at the beginning of the following session.
I am very flexible and happy to adapt to my students needs throughout sessions.
I am a second year university student studying Medical Sciences at Exeter University, hoping to go on study medicine in the future.
I have 4 years' tutoring experience in maths and science at both GCSE and GCE level. I provide help with medical school applications, such as helping you to revise for the BMAT and UKCAT as well as helping with the the UCAS application process. I also took a year out between completing my A levels and going to university to be a Teaching Assistant helping SEN and low-ability students in lessons.
Previous students of mine have gone from achieving level 3s to 6s within a matter of months and their confidence improved greatly.
I am happy to work with my students to find the best possible way of helping them to achieve their goals.
