I have experience in tutoring younger adults, and feel excited and confident to extend this to those studying A levels and preparing for university. I take a 'spiral learning' approach to tutoring, to make sure the student has a foundation of knowledge on the subject before moving onto more challenging topics, allowing them to build on the information they are already comfortable with. This allows greater consolidation of learning, and enables me to work at the pace of the student.
I am a first year medical student, and have been fortunate enough to have received offers to all four medical schools that I applied for, as well as one overseas. As only 17% of medical applicants receive an offer to study at a single medical school, this is a rare achievement and so I would love to impart my wisdom on others to help them achieve their dream of a career in medicine!
I have sat both the Biomedical Admissions Test (BMAT) and University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) exams for medical applicants and was successful in both of these. My UCAT score placed me in the top 25% of candidates in my cohort. I can provide tutoring for these 2 exams as well as advice for prospective medical students, including interview training and personal statement tutoring.
Furthermore, I achieved the results A*A*AA in my A levels, of Biology, English Literature, Chemistry and the Extended Project Qualification respectively. I received 10 A*s at GCSE.
I am relatively flexible with the fee for each lesson, so please do get in touch for more details. Lessons must be cancelled 24hours in advance or a fee of 50% of the lesson cost will be charged.
I volunteered for an initiative led by my school which was aimed at providing a more challenging scientific education to underfunded schools in the local area. For 1 hour a week I taught pupils aged 11-12 about key scientific principles with the help of practical demonstrations. I was required to make information booklets for the pupils to take home with them every week, in order for them to revise what they had learnt over the course of the lesson. As well as this I also I volunteered at 2 primary schools over the course of 4 years on a weekly basis. These were both underfunded state primary schools in the area local to my school. Here, I assisted young children in reading and writing tasks, helping them to develop key communicational and confidence skills. I also helped the older children (ages 11-12) in preparing for their 11+ exams, by explaining, teaching and advising them with English Literature and comprehension tasks.
I am starting university to study medicine, and also have work and interview experience in this field.
