Methodology

My method of teaching is unique to the student I will be teaching. Every student of mine will have their own individual learning plan catered to their needs and goals; not only will I be able to help students improve in their chosen subject but I will work with them all year round to ensure that they will receive the highest grade they can in class tests, preliminary examinations and official SQA examinations.

For students at BGE level or are sitting SQA examinations, I will create custom spreadsheets for them - that will be emailed to them - and teach them how to use it to monitor their progress - a study skill that can then be applied to all classes they have. In my spare time, I have studied different methods of studying and I have found the most effective ways to study, learn and retain information according to science backed research which I will be more than happy to teach students to ensure they study in an efficient manner. Prior to each tuition session, I will ask students which area they would like to focus on to ensure that I come prepared and have the most beneficial resources with me. Students are welcome to contact me out of tuition hours with questions regarding their homework.

For younger students, age appropriate methods of teaching will be used. Learning will be completed through a fun way to engage students and help them retain the information in as well as possible while helping students to increase their confidence. A mix of school resources, worksheets, fun activities and games will be used during tuition sessions. Parents are free to get in touch at any time if they have any questions on their behalf or on the student's. Parents will be given weekly updates on their child's progress and a monthly written report on how their child is progressing in the chosen subject area.
