My teaching method involves working with students to identify areas that they are struggling with. I try to explain the subject matter in a simple way, and consolidate and apply the knowledge by practicing exam questions. I also work with students to recap previous topics that they may otherwise forget.
I am a medical student who studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A level. I mentored two younger students in these subjects during my final year of A levels, and therefore have the experience to tutor in these subjects at the national curriculum level, GCSE or A level.
University of Birmingham (2018-2023)
A levels (Greenhead college, Huddersfield, 2016-2018): AAA (Biology, Chemistry, Maths)
GCSEs (Grange Technology College, Bradford, 2011-2016): 7A*s, 3As, 1B
Work and Experience:
Princeville Primary School- Assistant (2015)
My role involved assisting the children with their learning, and supervising them during break and lunchtimes. This helped me develop my teaching and communication skills, particularly whilst working with a group of children who were new to the English language.
Grange Technology College- Summer School Volunteer (2014)
Volunteered at Grange Technology College’s summer school working with prospective students in a leadership role. I supervised various activities and accompanied visits, where I was able to provide information and reassure the students about life at secondary school. I made sure to listen to their concerns carefully, in order to address questions effectively. I also had the opportunity to get creative at this event as I was asked to take photographs for the school.
Huddersfield Royal Infirmary - HRI (2017)
I spent a week shadowing doctors, nurses and healthcare staff in HRI, which gave me valuable insight into the importance of individual roles in the healthcare team.
Bradford Royal Infirmary – BRI volunteer (2017 – 2018)
Managing the weekly ward trolley at BRI with two other volunteers allowed me develop my own team working skills, and to interact with patients from a range of backgrounds. However, I sometimes had to work on my own, and this helped me learn to take the initiative.
British Heart Foundation – BHF charity shop volunteer (2017 – 2018)
Volunteering with BHF I formed part of a team that ensured everything in the charity shop was running smoothly.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals (2017)
In 2017, I spent a few days volunteering with Get Me Better champions, an initiative organised to work with people with learning disabilities. I learned how to better communicate with people who had disabilities, and it also allowed me to become a more empathetic person.
Student mentor (2017-2018)
I spent my final year of A levels mentoring two students in a level Biology and Chemistry. This involved meeting weekly to over topics the students were struggling with in order to understand the subject matter better and achieve higher grades.
