When I was at school, I found that the best way of learning was to fully understand what and why things are what they are. I like to have a clear idea of what I needed to know and how best to approach questions in exams. Visualising ideas is an important part of the learning process and will be used a lot during the sessions. Following a previous lesson, I will have asked the tutee what they want to cover for the following week. From that, I will plan a short overview, including some past exam questions, simple and more difficult examples, and some ready-made diagrams if necessary. During the lesson, the student and myself will both decide an objective together that we can achieve during the session. Together, we’ll go through some examples and explanations, and then look at a few questions at the end. I aim to let the student decide how best they learn so that I can adapt my learning style to them in order to get the most out of the lesson. Ultimately, I hope that my students will become more confident and inquisitive about the subjects they’re studying.
Hi, I'm Ellie and I go to the University of Nottingham. Alongside medical school, I enjoy playing football and learning French. I have tutored for just over a year now and have tutored over 10 students in their GCSEs. Studying Biology, Chemistry, and Maths at A-Level was a challenge for me; I spent many evenings trying to understand different concepts and always wished I had someone to sit next to me, even if it were just for encouragement. Being able to become a tutor means that I can act as a person who can bring enthusiasm to the subject as well as a helping-hand.
Lesson pricing is £20. If booking two lessons in one week, I can reduce this price to £35. Any problems, please let me know. I normally try to give an exception of 3 missed lessons - after this we will re-evaluate and perhaps make alternative decisions.

Ellie is an excellent tutor. My son received GCSE results with grade 5 in Science (with predicted grade 2). Ellie is always well-prepared for her lessons. She explains everything in a very simple but informative manner and is really helpful when giving advice. My son learns in every class with Ellie and was always very interested in the process which is very important! He likes her lessons a lot! She is a passionate and dedicated teacher and brings out the best in her students. She is highly reliable, kind, responsive, encouraging and highly effective. She is always on time. We are very satisfied and would definitely recommend! Thank you very much for all your help!

Ellie is a very understanding, flexible tutor. After using her as my A-Level Biology tutor, I can say her tuition sessions are structured in a way to target your needs and abilities. She was a great help when tackling complex topics. She also provided me with lots of past papers and exam question which played a huge role in my success. She is a very approachable tutor and I felt comfortable explaining that I would like to recap certain topics just to ensure all my knowledge is secure in that area. If you are looking for a personalised tuition sessions, you have found the right tutor!
