I prefer to teach GCSE/ A level students because I went through this process myself and I believe that I can use my own personal experience to help students. Before the lesson, I would like to have an idea of what the student is hoping to achieve through the lesson so I can best accommodate their needs. I will be using a copy of the syllabus/ textbook they provide and create a powerpoint so I can tailor the lesson specifically for them. At the end, I will have a small quiz/ plenary to consolidate the learning from the session and give them an opportunity to ask any questions.
I am a first year medical student with volunteer experience as a student mentor for 2 years in maths and science. As a result, I am able to tailor my teaching style to suit the needs of different students and their learning style. I achieved A* in my biology and chemistry A-levels, and I believe I have sufficient knowledge in these subjects to help my students achieve their target grades.
