Hello, I am a freelance Trumpet player living in South East London and enjoy teaching students at all levels and abilities.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the Trumpet/Cornet from beginner to advanced and also teach basic to intermediate musical theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have an academic Music degree from University of Chichester and I am currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich, London on the performance Masters course where I am doing a teaching elective.
I have a performance diploma on Trumpet (ATCL - Trinity Guildhall)
- How much do you charge?
For Trumpet/Cornet: £30 for an hour and £15 for a half hour
For Music Theory: £30 per hour for theory, group sessions also available with discounts (max group size of 5).
I offer a free preliminary lesson of half an hour with all teaching.
- Where do you teach?
I prefer to teach at students houses, although there are teaching rooms available close to where I am based. I do not mind travelling anywhere in London to teach, however in certain circumstances an additional transport fee may be applied.
- When are you available?
Most weekday afternoons and evenings except Wednesdays. I am also available during school holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Ages 9 upwards (including adults) I teach for absolute beginner to advanced.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am prepare my students for grade exams (ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall) to Grade 8 and above. Theory exams to Grade 5.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Playing the Trumpet is such a great and fun thing to do, you meet really interesting and diverse people whilst playing in ensembles and bands and professionally it is a very social career.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have experience in teaching Trumpet and theory to children and have also been involved in various workshops and concerts whilst at University for children and disabled persons. Most of this was in group form, however individual tutoring was included. I also have carried out a few mock Piano exams for other tutors.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have an enhanced CRB disclosure certificate from Junior Trinity (a specialist music school)
