My name is Michelle Laimeche and I'm studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I am an enthusiastic, experienced and friendly violin and piano teacher based in London.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Classical Violin and Piano from beginner level onwards.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am currently completing my Bachelor of Music degree (violin) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
At the Purcell School of Music, I obtained A's in both GCSE and A Level Music.
I have also completed ABRSM Music Theory and Piano exams.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £25 an hour and £15 for half an hour. I don´t charge anything for travel expenses unless the student´s home is out of Zone 2.
- Where do you teach?
I usually teach at home in West Kensington, but I am also available to travel to students' houses in London.
- When are you available?
My times are quite flexible, so normally I would be able to accommodate the students' needs.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and levels.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I'm happy to prepare my students for any graded exams that they wish to take, including ABRSM. I also have other books and methods of teaching for those
students who want to play for the enjoyment, without the pressure of exams.
- What kind of experience do you have?
As a violinist, I have had 12 years of playing experience, in chamber ensembles and solo. At the Purcell, I was part of a group called ´Impulse Outreach´, where we travelled around England to schools teaching children about music through workshops.
I greatly enjoyed taking part in this, as as well as being inspiring, this is where I first became interested in teaching.
Being part of National Children´s Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra, has given me wide experience in playing in major concert venues, in London and across Europe. My chamber group currently holds workshops for the Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots Series.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Where and with whom did you train?
I had my first violin lessons at the age of 5 with Felicity Lipman, a founder of the Suzuki method.
I joined the Purcell School in 2006, where I studied with Evgeny Grach, principal of the London Symphony Orchestra.
I am currently studying with Simon Fischer at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
