I concentrate on functional English. Not all subjects in a language are equally learned at the same time. You might really need one part and have no interest in how to explain your extended family. I want to know what you want to learn now and what can wait. I like to find ways to use topics you enjoy to learn that vocabulary and grammar. We will put more energy into written/ spoken depending on your needs. Then we find how you learn best, do you take notes or prefer to record audio? I like to learn somewhere comfortable but maybe you prefer somewhere structured.
I have been teaching since 2016 and am now a language student too! I have taught in private schools and in one on one settings. I have experience teaching adults and profession specific language. Previous students include; nurses, digital graphic designers, hairdressers and customer service representatives.
Over 10km I will charge a £10 travel fee unless options can be negotiated

Randstad Education, teaching assistant, Bristol 2015-2016
Groups and individual students in primary schools with ages 5-8 years old as a teaching assistant, especially with those who had extra learning needs or difficult behavior.
I worked alongside a main class teacher whose plans I would follow to help assist and manage bigger classes or students with behavioral and or developmental issues.

Independent Childcare, Childcare supervisor, Bristol 2015-2016
I worked independently for Acorn as a creche worker during meetings and as an in home childcare provider families for children ages 3 years and upwards.
Responsibilities included finding and planning age appropriate activities that would keep children amused and happy; sourcing materials such as toys and games; bathroom breaks; safety; supervision during refreshments.
I normally had small groups of up to 6 as I was the main creche worker this was dependent on age ranges and whether the creche was in the same room or separate room to the main meeting.
St Werburghs Primary, teaching assistant, Bristol 2015-2016
I worked with a year two class (ages 6-7) for eight hours a week in a class of thirty students.
My responsibilities included assisting individual students with extra support or with groups of students of approximately eight. I also helped with whole class activities such as games or story time and supervising play.
As this was a longer-term placement it meant I built a rapport with students and got to witness their progress. This role came with support and feedback from the main teacher I worked with.

Hydra Books, Director, Bristol 2014-Present
Over the years I have volunteered at this community not for profit in many distinct roles, last year I was invited by my fellow volunteers to become a Director.
Volunteer training was a main component of my role for 2015 and 2016; working with ages 16 years and up.
Most training was one on one or small groups of up to 5 demonstrating how to make coffee and teaching them how to do the same safely. Most people are very nervous when first doing this as it’s unfamiliar. I used encouragement and guidance as they tried the first few times to make a cup of coffee with frothed milk, as the steam wand is a burn risk and the milk must be the right temperature this was an exercise in getting them to trust themselves.
During 2017 and 2018 I have been responsible for organizing and hosting events. Especially a poetry performance workshop held once a month. This space is used by beginners ranging in age from 16 years to 50+ years. It is encouraging and centered around mutual support and peer encouragement.
My responsibilities have also included administration especially volunteer coordination; scheduling; emails; paperwork; legal documentation; chairing meetings; stock and customer orders; money management.
These skills will help me with any administration roles, teaching young adults or adults, creating an encouraging environment to learn and practice new skills, team co-operation, and have given me experience as part of a working group of 20 mixed age people as a trainer and co-worker.
Rose is an extraordinarily dedicated person in both her personal and professional lives. She is kind, seems to have limitless patience and takes the time to explain a difficult concept clearly and informatively. As a fellow tutor, I am delighted that Rose is now a colleague, as I could not wish for a fellow tutor with more integrity, passion to do well and drive to help others.
