My teaching starts off with first helping with the correct pronunciations and identifying the alphabets and the sounds made while speaking in Marathi language. This involves learning the written form of language which aids students to eventually read and write in Marathi easily. If someone is looking to focus more on Speaking and Listening, this too becomes simple with some basic knowledge of the script.
Then, we move to words and simple sentences. Speaking in Marathi to the learner will help them in understanding how sentences are made. The understanding of verbs, adjectives and formation of sentences without tutor's help is what one can achieve through this exercise. We then try to read some simple story books and listen to easy and catchy songs and poems that the student understands and slowly gains confidence to speak fluently. Once the student is understanding Marathi properly, they can sing Marathi Baal-geet/Badbad-geet, bhajan, traditional and devotional songs, prayers, watch and understand bits and pieces of famous Marathi movies; and most importantly, read and know more about Maharashtra and its rich history, culture and traditions with a strong linguistic foundation.
I am originally from Mumbai; studied MSc Economics in UK and currently working in an organization based in London; I lived in Mumbai until September 2018. I've learnt Marathi in school for more than 8 years and then in college for 4 years. I have been teaching 3 Indian languages to children for the past one year. People, children of different nationalities, ethnic backgrounds have been my students in the past. I can assure that with this course, one can speak Marathi fluently. This has helped many people to understand and be able to watch Marathi movies, dramas, shows and Marathi songs. The script for this language is Devnagri and once anyone learns this lipi, they can easily learn many other Indian languages like Sanskrit, Hindi.
I do not believe in charging differently to students with different levels of understanding but I do have a charge of cancellation which is £5 for failure of prior notice of at least 12 Hours before the planned class time.
