I love going from basics to more complex methods. One of good methodology of learning a language is through songs, as you find many different words that you get to know following a good rhythm. But I love also going through texts, and books if necessary, or even follow a programme that leads from the very basic foundation of Portuguese and so on.
My name is Helder Mario Quiala, originally from Angola (a Portuguese speaking country) doing my degree in UK. I graduated at University of leicester in Geology with Geophysics, and currently doing my master degree at University of Coventry. I am passionate about languages, and have been sharing experiences with many international students where we get to teach our native language to each other, and since 2014 I discovered that teaching Portuguese to my foreigns friends is so good, and I really enjoy it. I love also dancing, singing, playing guitar, cooking, and do photography. An I am so excited to meet new friends.

Abril 2019 A geophysical survey was undertaken at the Burrough Iron Age Hill Fort in Leicestershire, where we had to analyse the structure underneath the soil in the Hill Fort and what was possibly buried in the main entrances.
December 2018 – Present Started my first business as a freelancer photographer, and I am now working with ‘’meero’’ which is a networking of photographers across Europe with the office based in France, and we are providing our services to the so called ‘’Just Eat’’ doing food photography.
April 08 – April 12 – Carried 5 days of Geophysical Survey at the Burroughs hill iron age hillfort in Leicestershire, where we studied the ground by operating surveys using different geophysical equipment to study the ground, namely magnetometer (Measuring the magnetic field and detecting
any magnetised buried material), Terrameter ( to analyse ground resistivity), EM31 (to study the ground conductivity), Gradiometer and auto-level equipment’s to measure the elevation of the ground.
May 2018-January 2019: Working part-time as a member of an Agency (Arc Hospitality) working as a retailer, waiter, and a Food Runner.
June-July 2018: Did 28 days of independent mapping project in Cross fell, North England mapping drifts, faults, and beds in an area of roughly 5km2, independently, for my 3rd year dissertation.
April 2018: I had two weeks field works in two different places which are Anglesey, and Snowdonia. both in Wales. At first, in Anglesey we focused on metamorphic rocks where the vast majority showing 3 stages of deformations and lots of measurement were made on these measurements. Secondly, we took the following week in Snowdonia mapping drifts.
September 2017: Fieldwork taken in South Spain (Almeria), where we analyse the stratigraphic features like ripples, gradation, possible fossils to construct the geological history of the area. Furthermore, we produced a small aerial geological map of a selected area featuring faults, marker bed, including scale on it.
April 2016: I spent 7 days in Arran (Scotland) learning how to map along the coast, looking for the possible different features in that area, using different geological mapping techniques where we produced a topographic map highlighting the geological features such as lithologies, faults and folds, intrusions etc.
May 2014: Worked in populational census as a census taker in Angola in 2014. Competencies-Employability Skills and Interest
I am a motivated person, and always enthusiastic on news things, that most of the time requires concentration, or for challenging tasks, ready to contribute on anything that is in my reach.
I am comfortable working in a team or independently. Teamworking is an essential thing when there are problems to solve, it reduces your time because of different and constructive ideas that are given by members of a group. I love working in group because it makes efficient and there is a chance of getting several tasks solved in a short period of time. I play constantly football and it helps me considerably to develop my team working skill.
I have the ease of communicating and interacting in all the possible environments with people, which makes things easier mainly when it comes to solve a problem or even a task that needs to be accomplished in group, respecting other people ideas, analysing it and reach in one conclusion together.
Other skills include writing precisely and clearly, give confident presentation. I had a great experience in the beginning of the first semester at university of Leicester year 1, where we were asked to work on team and produce a poster in volcanoes where everyone individually brought their contribution for the success of the poster. Ability of network and make contacts are things that I take seriously for the development of a group or company.
I am a flexible person, independent and easily adaptable to any environment, and the fact of being an international student helped me to adapt and be independent to a sudden change of environment.
