MSc student with a Biological Sciences degree from Oxford teaching Biology/related subjects to all ages

Methodology

I approach each topic by starting with the basic concepts and building from them at a pace that suits the student. I really try to help students fully understand something before moving on, which is really important for the learning process.

I always aim to seek new ways of approaching problems if a student is struggling to understand. Everyone works in different ways, and it's vital that a teacher finds the best way for a student to learn.

It's also important to have variety in your learning. Whether that's by building diagrams and mind maps, or working through questions to realise what you don't know but also show what you DO know.

Experience

I graduated from Oxford last year with a BA in Biological Sciences and am now studying Environmental Economics for an MSc at Imperial.

Growing up, I often helped my younger sister with her homework, volunteered at a school for children with special educational needs, and ran a mentorship scheme in secondary school for students to learn from each other.

I really enjoy helping others to learn. It's so satisfying seeing someone feel a sense of achievement when they finally come to understand something that they've been struggling to get to grips with.
