The most important thing about tutoring is the student as an individual. My approach to content means adapting, tailoring and tinkering, to suit the lessons to the students themselves.
Working closely with my previous teachers has allowed me to access multiple resources and learn about different teaching techniques. With these tools, I can adapt the lessons to how my students learn best. I also make resources myself, exclusively for my students to use and again, in the format they find most useful.
My first steps are to establish what students find most engaging about the learning process, talk to them about the approaches they find work best and what they really don't enjoy, to create a personalised, dynamic plan for them to follow, to progress, and to meet their targets.
Monitoring of student progress is vital to learning, for which I will provide quizzes and questions in their exam's format to best prepare them, but I will also continue to keep them involved in the learning process by getting their continual feedback on my teaching style, and making sure they are always satisfied with how they are learning, and they feel confident in their abilities after our sessions.
I cover all the different fields within chemistry, so students can choose which topics they want to cover and focus on those they may struggle with more than others, allowing them to be in control of their own learning.
My teaching experience does not extend into private tutoring, but I have had two years in a volunteering capacity working with younger students in my own secondary school.
My experience ranges between communicating with full classes, explaining content or instructions, and answering questions, to working one-on-one with students to ensure their own personal targets are met, and they have an understanding and patient helper on hand to make the lesson more comfortable for them, whatever their academic ability.
Since I have not privately tutored before, I offer lower prices than average for the subject and area, with discounts on a 'pack' of lessons of 20% or 30%! My teaching is definitely up to standard, and my first lesson is free to assure you of that!
I'm a young student, looking to carry on into teaching as a career. My teaching methods differ from the traditional in that they are focused on students, not on content, and students are partners in planning lessons with me.
Each of my chemistry lessons will involve multiple different techniques and resources to explain information to keep students engaged, and suit their learning style best. At the start of the sessions, we will set goals for what the student wants to accomplish, and at the end, we will evaluate both their progress and my teaching style to ensure our approach is the best it can be.
