I often cater my classes to the specific needs or interests of the pupil, but most often I will combine a grammar topic with a theme, such as family, politics or future plans, with lots of creativity and speaking. The most important part is that you don't even realise that you are learning.
I have just finished my second year at the University of Exeter studying French, German and Russian. I have been tutoring since I started GCSEs, and have a passion for spreading my love of language, grammar and culture! My favourite part of teaching is surprising the student by how much they enjoy grammar - at least once!
Please give me two days notice before cancelling a class.
I am a second-year student from Newcastle studying French, German and Beginners’ Russian. I have a lot of experience working in teams under high pressure, and have been in many leadership roles. I thoroughly enjoy hard work and working to high targets.

Experience of Work
1 MARCH – PRESENT
Brand Ambassador/ Hollister
As brand ambassador, my tasks include serving customers at the till and throughout the store, with a particular interest in customer service and approachability. This experience has really challenged the way that I view retail and the fashion industry, especially in regards to the way it is presented.
SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER 2019
Entertainment Host/ The Ram
My position involved writing quizzes, hosting three event nights a week and handling money without a till. I found the work a great exercise for my organisational skills and my confidence in front of crowds.
FEBRUARY 2019 – SEPTEMBER 2019
Cloakroom attendant / Unit 1
In my local nightclub I was trained in handling money, operating a till and effectively working with members of the public.
SUMMERS OF 2018 & 2019
Playworker / Gosforth Park Out of School Club
I have spent the past two summers working with primary school children in a day-care and out-of-school care setting. I have participated in preparing food, playing with and looking after the children on a regular basis, on site and on daytrips.
Barista / Café Solo, Montpellier (Work experience)
I spent a week in Montpellier as a barista, serving the public and using my French to communicate with them. I received basic training for the role, such as serving food and drinks, and handling money.
JUNE 2019 – PRESENT
Year 2 German and Russian / SSLC Representative
My responsibility in this role is the communication between the students and staff of German and Russian, and reporting my feedback to a regular meeting between heads of department and other subject reps.
JUNE 2019 – PRESENT
President, General Secretary / German Theatre Society, Fashion Society
While in second year at university my classmate and I founded the German Theatre Society, where we explore German culture and literature through workshops on theatre and performance; moreover, my role in the Fashion Society involves communicating with local businesses and other societies regarding campaigns, photoshoots and campaigns. I have also participated in fashion modelling.
I volunteered during Freshers’ Week to introduce and welcome incoming students to the university.
OCTOBER 2015 – JULY 2017
World Challenge / Costa Rica and Nicaragua
I fundraised £4000 to fund a month trekking and volunteering in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. To raise this money, I made and sold homemade jam and washed cars; therefore, I finished my fundraising 6 months early with a £300 surplus. While on the expedition I was the team accountant, giving me responsibility for budgeting each individual expense such as meals, travel tickets and accommodation.
Young Leader /(Local) Scout Group
I volunteered as a Young Leader in my local Scout Group for four years, planning and carrying out games and exercises appropriate to a weekly programme. My work earned me the Young Leader Belt with ILM qualifications.
The Exeter Leaders Award/ University of Exeter
Similar to the Exeter Award, this aware required attending multiple workshops and an interview process, however was more focussed on leadership and management. I found this experience particularly helpful in the teaching of different leadership skills, psychometric testing and the emphasis of sustainability in business.
The Exeter Award/ University of Exeter
In my second year of university, I attended multiple workshops on employability and the world of work. Some of the taught skills included personal resilience and creating a successful job application, followed by an interview experience.
Young Leader Belt/ Scout Association & ILM
As a Young Leader in my local Scout Group, I worked towards the highest qualification of my section and also earned ILM accreditation for my work.
Go to university together and he’s top of the class. Can’t fault the guy- enthusiasm 110%.
Mark is truly passionate and kind, the best tutor anyone could ask for!
Mark a fait plusieurs séjours en France qui ont contribué à son perfectionnement du français qu'il maîtrisait toutefois déjà très bien!
I know Mark from university, as we are in the same German class. Mark is extremely linguistically talented and diligent, and gets along with everyone. He is a great leader and as a student representative of the MFL department, he is always very proactive and quick to use initiative to tackle any concerns. It is clear that he cares deeply about the well-being and satisfaction of all students, and is keen to ensure that the course material allows us to fulfil our potential.
When a classmate needs help with their work, he is consistently the first to explain the relevant grammar/vocab points in a manner that is patient, thorough and dedicated. You will certainly not regret having Mark as your tutor. I cannot recommend him enough.
Mark tutored my daughter throughout her GSCE French course. He is easy going, personable and definitley knows his stuff.
Such a good tutor, helped me a lot through GCSEs mainly with grammar and was always a fun enviroment.
