My teaching philosophy is one of hard work and positivity. I find that students who are encouraged to play in a fun and friendly environment get far more from their lessons and improve far more quickly than those who are simply forced into learning.
I am a student at Leeds University studying jazz guitar, and have been teaching for approximately three years to all abilities and ages. Previous students have taken up to and including grade 5, whilst others have focused on their playing at their own pace.

March 2014 to Present - Guitar lessons
Advertising myself as a guitar teacher has resulted in myself regularly teaching lessons, helping to improve learner’s skills and knowledge of the guitar. This has taught me a great deal about self-promotion and professionalism, with one of the main reasons for the ideas success in coming to fruition being the standard of the advertisements that I made to attract customers initially.
Extra Curricular Experience
The Weeke Duo (2016 to Present)
To hear some of our pieces and more follow this link!
A Saxophone / Guitar duo with a friend of mine, we have both found the playing to be challenging and exciting. Regularly performing together we have found many interesting ways to approach arrangements with our limited musical devices.
Jazz and Blues Society Jams (2016 to Present)
Regularly attending these jams has improved my soloing greatly, and made me more confident to approach improvisation calmly and with interest.
Leeds Student Radio, Production Team (2016 to Present)
This role has involved making adverts, jingles and voice-overs for shows. Furthermore I previously was a member of the music team, where at a weekly meeting we decided what new music should be added to the playlist, and where and whom we would be interviewing at gigs locally.
Music Theatre, Pit Bands (2016 to Present)
At university I have had numerous opportunities to play in pit bands for musicals such as Little Shop Of Horrors, Rock of Ages and American Idiot, being a greatly social experience and an opportunity to play in styles, which normally I wouldn’t be able to.
The King’s School Soul Band (2014 to Present)
Playing the electric guitar, we regularly played as a school band and frequently still meet to perform for events as a band.
The King’s School Big Band (2015 to 2016)
