I am a skilled educator, with experience and success with students of all ages and abilities. I approach my lessons as an opportunity to share the passion I have for music with everyone. I aim to create an individually styled lesson that finds the right balance of challenge and fun to match each student's needs. I teach oboe beginner - Grade 8, and Piano beginner - Grade 5.
I am a music student and the Royal College of Music studying oboe performance. I teach oboe, piano, music theory and musicianship, and oboe reed making.
I have experience playing oboe in a wide variety of settings including orchestra, concert band, theatre and opera, studio recording, chamber groups, and solo performance - both in the USA and the UK.
I have studied oboe under Juliana Koch, Gareth Hulse, and Fabien Thouand. I bring my personal experience with different playing backgrounds and teaching styles to create a learning environment suitable for any student.
I have 5 years of teaching experience - both group teaching and 1-to-1. I have worked alongside the Royal College of Music doing outreach in nurseries, schools, and special needs education, have been awarded an ABRSM Teaching Diploma, and am studying Creative Education with Dr. David Camlin.
I take a holistic and adaptable approach to lessons - working with the student's specific interests and skill level to create an inspiring and engaging learning environment. I believe very passionately that music is for everyone, regardless of age or experience and I work hard to create a setting that balances challenge and fun.
I look forward to working with your goals and helping you to improve your musicality and technical skills.
