I am a self-taught musician and the way I learnt how to play was to instead of referring to each fret on the instrument as a note which can sometimes be confusing to a newcomer, I would give each fret a number. The amount of numbers I would give would depend on how many frets the instrument has. So for example, on my current Bass Guitar, it has 24 frets so the first fret would be number 1, the second would be number 2, then number 3 right the way to 24. This would apply for each string of the instrument. After I did that, I would then follow tablature for a song that uses numbers instead of notes. When I've been asked to teach family members or friends of the family and their children to play an instrument, that's how I've done it and those people are now well on their way to becoming great musicians.
I have been playing the Bass Guitar for eight years and now currently in a Band that has released a debut album and well on the way to creating a second one. I can offer tutoring for people wanting to learn a variety of different genres of music (e.g. Heavy Metal, Rock, Blues etc.). I can also offer a huge amount of tutoring on how to fix and look after an instrument (e.g. correct cleaning techniques, changing strings etc.). I am able to provide my own equipment if needs be.
If the customer wishes to learn anything specifically, e.g. a specific song / artist or playing technique, please give a minimum of 3 days notice. (This is not including the day of the lesson)
If the customer requires any additional equipment for the lesson, please give a minimum of 3 days notice. If the piece of equipment is something I don't have and need to go out and buy, the price of the equipment will be added to the initial cost of the lesson. A receipt will be provided before the lesson starts. If however, the specified piece of equipment is above £50, a payment of sorts will need to be made prior to the lesson. (This is not including the day of the lesson)
If a cancellation needs to be made, 3 days notice is required or the customer may still be charged for the agreed price depending on the circumstances, e.g. the customer is ill etc. (This is not including the day of the lesson)
