I'm a self-taught musician inspired by a wide variety of styles and techniques. I believe that the best way to learn is to just do it. I provide exactly that - learning through practice. An essential part of playing is learning how to listen and feel, so besides playing the actual instrument, I will help you foster skills other than the technical ones, as those are the ones that make a good musician. When it comes to how the lesson is constructed and what direction it will go musically, there is a great deal of flexibility in this and depends on what you, the student, are interested in.
I teach people at all levels of skill.
I am an Anthropology Student at the University of Aberdeen and I've been playing the guitar, amongst several other string instruments, since I was 11 years old. I am for the most part self-taught, which trained my ear very well and made me into quite a proficient improviser. I would love to share my knowledge and skills with you and help you learn how to blend your playing with any style of music or type of musician.
Free cancellation 24 hours before the lesson. If you cancel later than 24 hours, the full price of the lesson has to be paid.

Perfect! Adam is a very patient and considerate tutor. His style is very relaxed and encourages a deeper understanding of the guitar as an instrument. I have already seen progress in the few lessons I have had. would certainly reccommend to others looking for a tutor.
What I love about John is that he has not given up on his dream to learn the guitar even at an age, where most people would think it's too late. I guess we all have a thing or two to learn from John. I know I do, and I'm happy to help him achieve his dream.
Adam helped me pick my first guitar and showed some tricks to start with - I already played uke before but certain aspects - like "don't play all six strings with certain chords" - would take me weeks of frustration to discover without him. He grasped the nature of my problems easily from watching me play and figured out suitable solutions. Good choice for someone pursuing deep understanding of the instrument. He's also a really cool guy, shame he dropped his hippie image recently, it suited him and warned you ahead of time.
