Nandita - Kentish Town - Piano

Methodology

I'm a very patient, reliable and friendly teacher and I aim to make my lessons as fun and enjoyable as possible, whilst ensuring I give my pupils a good technical and musical foundation from the very first lesson.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach violin, piano and music theory.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have a Postgraduate Artist Diploma in Violin Performance, and also a Masters in Violin Performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I also have a First Class Honours degree in Music (BMus) from Kings College London, as well as an ABRSM Diploma in Violin Performance (DipABRSM).

- How much do you charge?

I charge £40 per hour or £25 for 30 minutes. Group lesson fees are dependent on numbers.

- Where do you teach?

I teach at my home in Kentish Town, North London, I may be able to travel to nearby surrounding areas depending on location, such as Camden, Hampstead.
I also teach in Baldock, Hertfordshire. Contact me for more details.

- When are you available?

I usually teach on weekdays (daytime and evening lessons available) but weekend slots may be available. I can continue teaching during holidays.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and abilities from beginners to Grade 8 + and I believe it's never too late to learn! I currently have pupils aged 4 upwards, and I am happy to accept pupils from age 3, depending on the child's concentration span.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I can prepare students for ABRSM graded exams if they wish to take these. I have a 100% pass rate and will only enter students for exams when they are willing and ready.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I can give online lessons via FaceTime or Skype.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

It is very important to me that my students enjoy learning the violin - of course learning to play the violin is hard work and requires practise and dedication, but it is also an exciting challenge, very rewarding, and fun!

Background

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been playing the violin for 21 years and the piano for 17 years. I've been teaching violin, piano and music theory for 9 years to children and adults, from beginner to Grade 8 +. As a freelance violinist, I perform with orchestras in and around London, as well as regular recitals with my string quartet, the Camilli String Quartet.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I took my undergraduate degree (BMus) at Kings College London, where I received violin lessons at the Royal Academy of Music, studying with Diana Cummings and I studied with Clare Thompson for my postgraduate degrees at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where I also received coaching and masterclasses with eminent musicians including Tasmin Little, Andrew Haveron, the Kronos Quartet, Rivka Golani

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM)

- Tell me about some of your current students.

I currently teach a number of students of varying ages, the youngest is now 4 years old - he started learning with me at the age of 3. I also have adult pupils, both beginners and re-starters. Some of my pupils have been learning with me for over 8 years! Many of my students take ABRSM exams in violin, piano and theory , and I have a 100% pass rate. I hold regular concerts for my pupils to play to each other and their families.
