About the lesson

I’m an emphatic communicator with the ability to teach in a simple manner so my students understand the fundamentals, gain a better grasp of grammar and gradually expand their vocabulary.

• My lessons start with a dialogue with the student (I may note down new words to make examples together afterwards).

• Grammar/Vocabulary Lesson: my aim as a teacher is to make the acquisition of a second language simple to the student.

• No need to copy in my lessons, everything is sent to the student once the lesson is over.

• Bespoke educational resources.

• Fun and engaging by adding cultural and musical aspects.

• Constant interaction with the student.

Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak fluently five languages but I must say Spanish is my mother tongue and it is the language I feel more attached to.

Regarding to Chinese language, still today I remember the teachings and wisdom from my Chinese teacher, he definitely encouraged me to learn from such a different language and culture.

  • 02

Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

I think the painter Pablo Picasso is a clear example of Spanish culture: creative, funny and easy-to-approach.

In the case of Chinese language, Confucius is a relevant figure still today due to his teachings about family, love and morality.

  • 03

Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

"El Ratoncito Pérez" is a name given to an imaginary mouse which supposedly brings gifts to children once a tooth falls off. In that way, children are fearless of teeth falling out.

入乡随俗 (rù xiāng suí sú) is a Chinese idiom which means: when you enter a village, follow the local customs. I think it is very important to adapt to other people's opinion and mindset in order to enrich ourselves.

  • 04

Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Spanish is the third most spoken language in the world! I feel proud of transmitting to my students the vast amount of culture both from Latin America and Spain.

Speaking Chinese is opening a door to a different world, you learn a different way of thinking apart from a language.

  • 05

What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

Verb tenses are the main difficulty a student face when learning Spanish, however, my approach to teach them is through logic exercises. In that way, the student understands why verbs and grammar is used in a specific way.

I use the same approach when teaching Mandarin Chinese, I must say it is effective!

  • 06

Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

I will always remember what my best friend once told me: today you will learn new words which yesterday you didn't know, and tomorrow you will learn new words which today you do not know. Working everyday is how you make a difference.

  • 07

How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

I have travelled and lived in different countries such as the UK, Ireland, China, Kenya or France. These experiences helped me to improve my language skills and encouraged me to learn more.

  • 08

What makes you a Superprof in language?

I have excelled academically, I have two degrees (English Linguistics and Literature/Translation and Intercultural Communication) and I speak fluently 5 languages.

Nonetheless, I think what really makes a Superprof is how committed you are with teaching and the bond you create with students. In the end, languages should be fun both for the teacher and the student!
