I am a mother of 3 boys and we speak at least 3 languages at home; Urdu, French and English. I personally, also speak different dialects of urdu.
To my experience, the best way for anyone to learn anything, including a new language, is to keep the person motivated and interested. In order to do that, I will choose any topic that interest my learner, it can be video games, movies, music, sports etc.
However, I am always open to new methods of teaching and will always try my best to find the better teaching way that suits my learner.
My experience started at the age of 11 when I was helping the adults of my family (parents, uncles, aunties etc.) to understand French.
At the age of 16-17, I was giving private tuition to my brothers, sister, cousins etc.
It helped them a lot and their school results could show the progress they made in French.
My latest “learners” are my own boys.
