I am new to teaching German, but since I have attended various language classes (French, English, Spanish and Italian), I do consider myself confident in approaching a language and teaching it.
I believe that the best way of learning a language is actively speaking and listening. You can take as many grammar lessons as you want, but you will only feel confident in a language once you start communicating in it.
So what I want to focus on, after gaining a basic understanding of the grammar and structure of the language, is communicating in German and gaining an insight into the German culture. This can take various forms and is completely dependent on the student, but you can expect German music, books and learning a lot about Germany, its history and culture.
I am half Swiss / half German and have been living in the UK since September 2018, in order to study PPE here. As a Swiss national, I grew up around various languages and even though we communicate in our weird Swiss dialect, we do only speak German in school and all of our books are in German, as well.
