NOTE: UNTIL 2020 IS OVER, ONLY ONLINE CLASSES BECAUSE OF THE CURRENT SITUATION. Afterward, I will do private classes in 'real-life' again.
When I see a pupil for the first time, I want to, first of all, ask lots of questions and use the first couple of lessons to see what kind of knowledge they already have and where are areas they might need to work on also called "Baustellen" in german.
After I find out what you need, I will look at what you want to achieve with these lessons (do you want to move to Germany or need to finish a test?) and what type of content fits you. We all have different learning types, for instance, some people are more visual whilst others are auditive. Further, we all are interested in different topics! If you love fashion, politics, or medicine - try to find german content about that! Based on that, I will sort out the material that you need (worksheets, videos, podcasts, books/audiobooks).
I try to focus on all areas so that you will end up to be an active speaker and writer.
What matters to me?
I care about you having fun and that you want to deal with german every day. I encourage you to follow german web-pages on social media, read the news, or watch youtube videos. If you are more advanced, books are definitely the way to go! I will try to ONLY speak german to you during class, so you get a direct impact.
How do my lessons look like?
- discuss your last week in german (what have you been up to?)
- go through your homework (vocabulary is put into the Quizlet - I recommend everyone to do this)
- work on either reading/writing/listening/ speaking
through grammar work/dialogues/videos (depends on whether you want to do the Ghoete Test or not)
Sometimes we look at news or trending topics and discuss them, so that you are actively talking.
- discuss next weeks homework
German culture:
I really want everyone to see the wonderful sites of german culture but also the traits we have to watch out for before you visit! I give you cooking recipes in german to understand our culinary culture but also historical background, our values, and body language nuances that will make you understand us. For instance, we might talk about the Mauernfall: how that came about and what it meant for the country.
If you want to read books on the side, watch movies, listen to podcasts, or watch Youtube channels I have got a great list of things - so that you can learn beyond what I teach! I also recommend some german apps, where you can immerse yourself into that environment.
I am an undergraduate student (did Fashion Management and now PPE) and I have taught high school students in my home country Germany, in both economics and german. I am very engaged and really hope my students get the most out of their potential. Interest is the most important asset. My current German students either need help with homework or are moving to the country or need to start from scratch! I will help you to speak, read, write, and understand conversations. Too often in classes, only one thing is focused on leaving you with no speaking ability.
One of my students David came to me about 8 months ago with level A1 and now he is reading stories at almost level B2. We are currently reading books, discussing their content, and discussing trending topics in Germany. I translate his vocabulary and correct him as we speak together and he translates it into his Quizlet.
For those of my students, who want to finish the Goethe test: we will look at all the exercise material out there and utilize it - so you know exactly what awaits you!
For online tuition, there is no cancellation fee attached! However, for private classes in person, you should tell me on the same day in the morning until 9 am so that I can refund your class. I know that you can get sick overnight, and I respect that :)

Perfect! Yvonne it attentive, friendly and helpful. As a teacher she contributes to your education not just in your lesson time but also via important pre-lesson planning and homework. She makes an effort to grasp why you want to learn the language, tailoring your lessons to this. I would highly recommend Yvonne as a German teacher.
Charles takes up very quickly on speaking german, due to him having lived in Germany prior. He has a very good memory and can learn to take it easy. Languages are fun and things come with time :).
Perfect! Yvonne helped me a lot with my overall grasp of German, writing, speaking and listening. Sie ist toll!
David is a fast learner and a hard worker! He is very engaged in his studies and will take them home, to work on things privately. Even when he is busy, he will do the homework and manage challenging exercises. He is very eager to do things right, and this passion and interest make him delightful to work with.
Yvonne has helped me outside of SuperPROF immensely with my understanding of german language (vocab, punctuation etc) - getting me to speak ALMOST FLUENTLY within 6 months - all the while keeping a light spiritted and friendly athmosphere during the lesson. Ich weiß deine Lehrfähigkeit sehr zu schätzen :).
Yvonne has been tutoring me for over a year now. She not only helps with certain questions I may have but explains an entire topic fully in depth.
You can really tell that she’s had a lot of experience in tutoring! Thanks to her I’ve seen great results in my understanding, as well as a rise in my grade average!
Yvonne is extremely driven, and very hard working when something interests her. She likes to explore her creative side which I am sure makes her an inventive and resourceful teacher, which should pair marvellously with her firm but comprehensive character.
Yvonne can tailor her lessons perfectly according to the needs and learning styles of her students. She is very professional and friendly at the same time. She knows what she is doing, 10/10 would recommend her lessons!
I’ve personally known Yvonne for almost 10 years now. Her passion, commitment and ambition for the things she cares about and finds interest in is truly remarkable and a valuable quality of her personality. I think I haven’t met many people that have had as much insight into the political and financial world, at such a young age, as Yvonne. Her command of the languages she speaks paired with the successful participation in the European Youth Parliament program and having graduated from an economics profile makes her extremely qualified for this tutor job. I’m sure Yvonne will excel at helping other people achieve their academic goals by passing on her profound knowledge and experience in the related field.
