Hi I'm Amy, I'm 22 and from Hartlepool. I am a recent graduate in Maths and Psychology from Newcastle University and have experience teaching all ages however I teach mostly GCSE and Alevel students in Maths.
Firstly, I will look at the students' syllabus and review what they already know and what they need to know before their exams. I then have one-to-one lessons with them explaining concepts and talking through how to tackle problems. We then work through examples together. It is also important to me that the student at least tries to do examples on their own with me present to assist their learning. I also give homework usually from a textbook.
I am friendly and approachable and will work at whatever pace the student needs to help them work towards the grade that they want to achieve.
I have learnt a great deal of knowledge from my mathematics studies at university. I had an excellent tutor myself that guided me through my Alevels, and I know that you don't always want to ask questions in classes out of fear of being judged by others however I will explain whatever questions the student wants to know: no question is a silly question to me. The student may also find it useful to message me questions outside of tutor time which I can answer via message or in tutor sessions.
If it takes less time for me to travel I can reduce the travel fee.
I have recently graduated from Newcastle University with a 2:1 in maths and psychology.
I previously achieved an A in Alevel Mathematics at English Martyrs Sixth Form College.
I have worked as a Dance Teacher in Hartlepool for 3 years before University and at High Tunstall Secondary School voluntarily, where I worked with all ages.
Perfect! I am a mature student starting a distance learning degree in September, over the summer
I have had about 6 maths lessons with Amy and found her to be a very capable tutor.
Amy clearly has a passion for mathematics and this shines through in her teaching, she is a great communicator and has a talent for explaining things with patience and simplicity making you feel comfortable and at ease with the subject matter. I am confident Amy will offer plenty of assistance and support to anyone of any age struggling with maths.
It went excellently, we had a 2 hour lesson each week and managed to fit all of the mathematics content that he needed to know within a matter of weeks. Listened and worked hard to understand concepts.
Studying with Amy during university I can vouch for her as a kind and patient person. During our time she helped me with a number of assigments and gave clear explanations and took as long as was necessary to make sure the point was understood. She is hard working and knowlagble in here field and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a mathematics tutor!
