- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach all styles of piano playing from Classical to Jazz and Popular. Classical students can opt to study for ABRSM exams or I am perfectly happy if they wish to play purely for their own pleasure.
When studying Jazz, I teach both an understanding of chord voicings and learning standard tunes combined with improvisation and ensemble playing. Some students however prefer to play from written out parts which is also fine and we can combine as much or as little improvisation as they wish. I also use the ABRSM Jazz Piano Exams for those who wish to follow that course.
In Popular piano styles students learn through playing music from films with composers such as Einaudi, Philip Glass, and Yann Tiersen. I also use pop artists like Coldplay, Elton John and Fall Out Boy.
Many students are keen to learn a mixture of these styles.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the 4 year performers course and achieved the AGSM with Distinction in 1990.
I also received the Certificate of Advanced Studies in 1991 as post-graduate from the GSMD.

I teach all levels from beginner to advanced. Children can begin from 6 years and there is no upper age limit.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I think enjoyment is the key. I try to find what styles will really interest the student and make them passionate about playing the piano.

I worked at the London College of Music Junior Dept. from 1994-7 and also temporarily at the Royal College of Music Junior Dept. in this period.
I lectured in Contemporary Music and Jazz at Chichester University from 1998-2004.
I now work as piano teacher at Churcher's College in Petersfield and Westbourne House School in Chichester alongside my private practice.
I continue a career as a performer and composer and have given recitals in venues such as St. James' Piccadilly and the Turner Simms Concert Hall. My music has been used on many films, theatre and dance productions, most recently the Indian feature film Delhi Boom.
