Hi! My name is Nicholas Schlesinger. I am an accomplished professional drummer and multi-instrumentalist with 16 years' touring, recording, writing, and tuition experience available for private drums (and guitar) lessons.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I primarily teach the drums in a variety of styles (e.g. from Rock to Reggae, to Funk and Latin, etc).
My lessons are fun, interactive yet structured and challenging aimed at developing your skills as an individual drummer / guitarist / musician.
Lessons are aimed at those of you who are either new to playing, want to learn to jam to their favourite songs, join a band, or improve your skills. They are tailored to your needs and goals, and we'll work at your own pace to achieve these.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am a graduate of Oxford Brookes with a Joint Honours in Marketing and Business Management (2:1). I am fluent in Spanish, French and English and have multicultural experienced having lived in South America, Europe and the Middle East.
My approach to teaching reflects the above elements, which I combine with creativity and communication skills developed over the years working in Sales, Marketing and Advertising in Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals.
- How much do you charge?
£30 per hour
£15 per 1/2 hour
£40 per hour for 2
£50 per hour for 3
I recommend booking a block of 4 lessons in advance to guarantee your slots in advance.
Prices include local studio rental.
- Where do you teach?
I am based in Acton (West London), yet I can also travel to students' homes (within London).
- When are you available?
I am available from 9.00 to 21.00 from Monday to Sunday.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages from beginners to advanced levels. Everyone is welcome!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I use Skype in order to interact with my students online when teaching guitar or Spanish.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Practice makes perfect! :)
Nicholas is one of our best tutors. They have a high-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have served as a guitarist, drummer, bassist, vocalist and songwriter in many Country, Blues, Jazz and Rock ensembles over the years. This means you will get a rounded perspective of the instruments (i.e. drums / guitar) in the context of the lesson.
You will benefit from my years of experience gigging and touring in the UK alongside well-known national and international Rock acts. Most recently, these include Accept, Reckless Love, Blaze Bailey, The Crave, Biohazard, Viking Skull, Kellermensh, Romeo Must Die, and many more.
I currently play for London's Rock group The Mercy House. Feel free to have a listen to get an idea of my Rock playing.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes - a nice and clean one, and all up-to-date!
- Where and with whom did you train?
Being a self-taught musician, unlike perhaps a lot of the tutors out there, means that I can provide you with different perspective and approach at learning your instrument.
Within a progressive structure / programme, I incorporate elements of musical freedom and improvisation to help you develop your own style and express what you feel and see through your instrument.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the PPL and PRS organisations. I am also part of the Drumsense network of teachers.
• Full, clean CRB / DBS
• PRS, PPL
I'm lucky to have such an awesome teacher... Even if he can't grow a real moustache.
