Methodology

With 26 years of classroom teaching, exam marking and tutoring experience, I offer my skills, experience and expertise to the students to achieve top grades in their GCSE English Language and Literature exams.

I hold a Masters Degree in English Language and Literature and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Studies in Education from Kingston University.

- How much do you charge?

£15/hour. (One lesson is 2 hours long so the charges are £30/ 2hours.

- Where do you teach?

Since the lockdown started, I teach online using Zoom.

- When are you available?

Mondays to Fridays from 5.00 to 8.30 pm.

Students who are 14-16 years of age.

GCSE English Language and Literature.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I meticulously focus on the key skills tested in exams through effective teaching, regular assessments, detailed marking of students' work and robust practice. These best teaching practices lift the learning spirits of students and enable them to achieve the top grades.

After teaching and developing the key skills required to meet the success criteria for the exam, I give my students very rigorous practice in attempting various past and practice papers to ensure fast-paced progress. Students' work is regularly marked in detail and they are provided with in-depth comments about gaps in their learning, areas of focus and the methods to achieve the required outcomes. They are also given intense practice in exam time management skills.

All these above mentioned good practices and strategies energize my students to reach their full potential.

One of the qualities I pride myself in is my ability to engage my students who genuinely feel 'English is easy now.'

Every student achieves the best learning outcomes alongside their peers. I, therefore, prefer teaching in groups and all students achieve landmark success.

Yes, I have a very recent DBS Certificate.

Kingston University.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

My current and past school classes and private students have always achieved grades 7-9 in the highest numbers.

All my private students in May/June 2017, 2018 and 2019 Exams achieved grade 7,8 or 9 (A or A*) in GCSE English Language & Literature.

Rate for a 1-hour lesson. : £15/h

Details

The first lesson is one-to-one with the student in the presence of their parents. The learner attempts an assessment in reading and writing skills. After marking, the student is told the result and the tutor consults with the learner and their parents about the best way forward in the light of the outcome of the assessment. This lesson is a minimum of 2 hours long. This one-to-one interaction in the presence of parents provides the student and the tutor with an opportunity to learn more about each other. All lessons are online since the lockdown started. All lessons are for 2 hours.
