I have been taking my daughter Lucy to Adam now for nearly 3 years. I can honestly say, I felt very relaxed, confident and 100% trustworthy with Adam. His teaching skills are impeccable, he is relaxed, lets students pick what they would like to play and if it is not appropriate, his vast knowledge will choose a suitable piece to learn. If you are looking for a first class tutor, look no further as you will be looked after extremely well, young or adult. Many thanks Adam, From a very proud father.
I would highly recommend Adam Hooton to anyone that is looking for a professional guitar teacher. When I was looking for a guitar teacher for my son, I watched a YouTube video on Adam's website and I could see that he was a gifted guitarist and I decided to contact him straight away. He taught my son grade 8 guitar. My son enjoyed every minute of his lessons. I am tremendously grateful for everything he taught my son and I am happy with my son's result in his Rockschool exam. He got a grade 8 distinction.
Adam has been teaching my children, aged 8 and 10, to play acoustic and electric guitar for over a year. We have a weekly schedule and he never fails to be reliable. Adam prides himself on teaching the 'right way' and instilling a discipline in the children. He is friendly but firm. If my children continue to play the guitar into their adult years I can honestly say that it will be part due to the strong foundation Adam has provided for them.
Adam was my guitar teacher while I was at college and I would've happily continued lessons with him if I hadn't gone off to uni, partially his own fault as his lessons helped me get enough grades to top my UCAS points up! It's now been several years since I moved away and the more I've improved the more I've come to realise how skilled he is. Not only is his technical ability staggering, he was also one of the most relaxed teachers I've ever had, yet one of the most effective.
I've played around with guitars for years but never had formal lessons. Adam's taken that and taught me technique, and the improvement I've made in just a few months has been great. It's easy to practise when you can see the difference it's making. Adam keeps the lessons interesting, mixing in new techniques and pieces, and making sure we never get bogged down if something's too difficult. Awesome teacher.
I was almost an absolute beginner when I started lessons with Adam and he gave me a great foundation to work on. I'm now at a level I never expected to be. Adam stopped me from getting into bad playing habits and has taught both the theory and the practical side to me, so I can learn more on my own and be a better player. His comments are constructive and he's very patient, so if you put the practice in you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended!
My son started guitar lessons at school and became very disillusioned by his teacher, since changing to Adam a year ago his playing is progressing well and he's really enjoying guitar.
Adam is a brilliant teacher, incredibly patient and very enthusiastic. Adam gets the balance right between challenging him with new pieces but not excessively so and a fun mix of music, both classic and contemporary keeps my son interested and willing to practice.
I would happily recommend Adam without any hesitation.
