Online (Skype) Qualified English tutor with six years experience offers interesting, effective and fun tuition in GCSE English Language and Literature.

Methodology

First of all, I will listen to your learning goals and needs and assess your current level. Lesson will focus on honing skills and confidence. An emphasis is made on engaging your interest and curiosity to create an interesting adventure rather than a passive and dreary burden! Regarding the language paper, lessons will include us writing short creative passages using techniques to sculpt inventive, vivid passages with a surprising twist or two! Transactional writing will also be covered such as how to write persuasively.
The literature lessons can be fascinating in that we will delve into the social context of the play/novel/poem and you will learn interesting and relevant facts about history, culture and psychology of the times as well as the plot, characters and themes of the work. We will also enhance your repertoire of literary techniques and analytical skills. The goal is to encourage you to be a proactive, curious and insightful English connoisseur!

Experience

I have been tutoring English GCSE language and literature online for six years and have previously taught the same face-to-face in college. I have taught both AQA and Eduqas exam boards and am familiar with both syllabi. I hold a Certificate in Education. My background is in Social Work and I also hold a BSc (Hons)in Social Work (2.1) in addition to the CELTA qualification. I have been recommended by many parents and a few of their comments are on this site.

I really enjoy my classes with Nev! He’s professional, patient and organised. If you choose him as your tutor I can guarantee he will certainty achieve your needs.

First, Nev has never missed a class and always has been on time. He tries to spend class time fully every time and even doesn't mind teaching a few more minutes. Second, he prepares teaching materials that is a great help to me every time. Finally he is very kind and understanding.

I had the fortune to begin doing class with Nev 2 months ago, and I am really thankful to him.

Speaking from my personal experience, I could realize he is talented, passionate, and experienced teacher from the first class. He has been adapting the class and the material to my needs.

Not only is supporting me with many useful resources or activities, but he is also making the classes open to my convenience. Therefore, we may choose together which type of homework we are going to do: listening, reading, speaking, word transformation.

I absolutely recommend him!!

My son has had a dislike for English throughout school and I only wish he'd had a teacher like Nev. My son has enjoyed every session and I have seen his confidence in English grow week after week. Wholeheartedly recommend this enthusiastic tutor.

Nev tutored my son for three momths before the GCSE exam. His remarcable knowledge, his energy and passion, his outstanding teaching skills gave my son the tools, the confidence and the motivation to learn more and to succeed. His mock grades increased from a 3 to a 5 in these three months, his attitude towards learning English in particular changed completely and permanently. Nev passion and vast subject knowledge had a great impact also on how my son prepared for all his exams. I consider myself lucky to have such an amazing tutor for my son.
