Find out more about Dolapo

  • When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

My interest in Chemistry began during secondary school, but it fully matured during my professional Pharmacy training. As I advanced into Organic and Medicinal Chemistry, I began to see Chemistry not just as a subject, but as the scientific foundation behind drug action, molecular interactions, and therapeutic innovation.

My journey into private tutoring developed naturally. Classmates frequently sought my help in understanding reaction mechanisms and complex concepts. Over time, I realized I had a structured way of simplifying technical material, and teaching became both a passion and a responsibility.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students.

I teach Organic and Inorganic Chemistry across high school and university levels, including GCSE, IGCSE, and foundational university chemistry.

    My favorite areas include:

    - Organic reaction mechanisms
    - Functional group chemistry
    - Structure–reactivity relationships
    - Chemical bonding and molecular theory
    - Acid–base chemistry and equilibria
    - Stoichiometry and quantitative problem-solving

I particularly enjoy teaching reaction mechanisms because they reveal the logical flow of electron movement. Once students understand the “why” behind reactions, Chemistry becomes predictable rather than intimidating.
  • Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I was strongly inspired by an Organic Chemistry educator on YouTube whose clarity and structured explanations reshaped how I understood mechanisms. In addition, Professor Sunday Idowu, one of my university Chemistry professors, significantly influenced my academic development.

Their precision, discipline, and depth in Organic Chemistry motivated me not only to master the subject, but to teach it with excellence. They also influenced my communication style and professional confidence.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    A strong tutor must possess:

    - Deep conceptual mastery
    - The ability to simplify complex ideas without reducing accuracy
    - Patience and adaptability
    - Strong communication skills
    - Analytical thinking

Above all, a good tutor builds confidence. Many students struggle because foundational concepts were not structured properly at the beginning.
  • Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

During my university years, Chemistry became increasingly demanding from 200 level through 500 level. Recognizing how difficult the coursework had become, I created an academic support group called “The Helpers Group.”

I organized night classes where I stood for over five hours explaining reaction mechanisms, calculations, and theoretical principles to my colleagues. What started as informal support evolved into structured academic mentoring.

That experience strengthened my endurance, teaching discipline, and ability to simplify advanced material under pressure.
  • Did you face any difficulties at school or university?

Yes and this is one of the most defining parts of my journey.

Between grades 10 – 12, I struggled significantly with Chemistry. In fact, I initially disliked the subject. After failing my first external examination (WAEC GCE), I made a personal decision that changed my academic life.

I realized how much sacrifice my parents made to support my education, and I resolved not to waste that opportunity. I began studying Chemistry and Physics intensely — not just to pass, but to truly understand them.

From that turning point onward, I passed subsequent examinations with distinction.

That experience is why I am deeply committed to helping the next generation avoid the same struggle. No student should fear Chemistry simply because it was poorly structured for them.
  • Do you have a particular passion?

My core passion lies in structured scientific thinking.

Organic Chemistry fascinates me because it forms the foundation of drug design and medicinal chemistry. Understanding molecular behavior is not just academic. It has real-world applications in pharmaceutical development and therapeutic science.

Beyond Chemistry, I am passionate about academic growth, intellectual discipline,
and helping students unlock confidence in difficult subjects.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

What distinguishes me as a Superprof is the combination of:

    - Personal academic transformation
    - Professional Pharmacy training
    - Structured teaching methodology
    - Commitment to conceptual mastery
    - International adaptability

I do not simply prepare students for exams, I train them to think scientifically.

My journey from struggling student to First-Class Pharmacy graduate reflects resilience, discipline, and academic excellence with values I now instill in every student I teach.
