I believe that positive reinforcement is the best method for working with kids (showing them with enthusiasm that they’re doing well to build self-confidence, using stickers for those who like them, talking about their achievements and improvement, etc.). I also always adjust to the needs of the child. Since they are all different, they also learn with different methods. For that reason, I listen and observe and then try my best to help, modelling my methods to the child. Being an enthousiastic person in general, I also try to bring a bit of fun and humour (when it's appropriate and the timing is good).
I have comprehensive experience as a lead teacher for Key Stages 1 & 2 at an academy that provided children with supplementary education. I was tutoring them on a variety of subjects including Maths and English, providing them resources corresponding to their needs and helping them with their school homework. When I lived in Québec, I was working as a tutor, helping children of Year 3 to progress in school by helping them with their homework (French, Maths and Science were the main topic).
Previously in Québec, I have experience teaching in a primary school Reception and Year 5 children. In addition to my teaching, I have more than 5 years experience as a nanny, making me extremely comfortable caring for children.
I'm an outgoing, open-minded person, with a good sense of humour, an enthusiastic personality and a passion for working with children and helping them to progress. I also pride myself on my hard work and dedication.
I am currently studying psychology as part of my degree, after my first certificate in Social Sciences, which included two internships in elementary schools for a total of 6 months. Also, after I graduated from high school, I studied for 3 years for a college diploma in the humanities, specialising in education. Therefore, I am confident in my knowledge regarding children's development and education.
I am originally from Québec in Canada and am fluent in both English and French. French is my mother tongue and I have completed all my years at school and university in the language. This, coupled with my teaching experience, gives me great confidence in my ability to provide excellent French tuition.

I strongly recommend Frédérique as she helped my daughter with her homework from school. She easily build a relationship based on trust and gave my daughter the knowledge and self confidence she needed to get trough the rest of the school year.
I have known Frédérique for many years now and throughout that time she has worked in the care and education of children of all ages and abilities. I know her to be engaging, enthusiastic, and patient; as well as having the ability to tailor her teaching style to best accommodate her students. I cannot recommend her enough!
