I like to implement my own study techniques when tutoring, as it allows both the tutee and myself to work efficiently and productively.
I'd set goals and this would give us something to work to throughout the year. I'm also a firm believer in practice makes perfect! And so, where possible, I'll always encourage the student to go away and practice in their own time by giving them homework. Of course, not all students take well to homework (and I'm no exception!) but it does pay off in due course.
I am an undergraduate studying Engineering Science at Oxford. I am incredibly passionate about all things Maths, Physics and Engineering/Technology!
I have tutored privately and for two private agencies and have tutored from Primary Level through to A-Level. I have several years of tutoring experience and it has proven to be a rewarding experience in building and boosting a student's abilities through the stage in their academic career.
I have tutored a vast range of students from all backgrounds and ages. I have had the opportunity to tutor for bespoke clients, as well as volunteer to teach secondary school students in Tanzania.
I have had many tutees, but each one requires a unique and tailored approach, I believe this is why tutoring is so effective for both tutor and tutee.
Having recently completed secondary education - at Dr Challoner's Grammar School, I feel that I can empathise with the students better. This also means that I am up to date with the current syllabi at schools. Moreover, I think that many students may feel more comfortable with a tutor who is a few years ahead of them.
