I am a hardworking, conscientious individual, and would love to impart some advice regarding anything concerning English Language and Literature, the university admissions process, and particularly the Oxbridge admissions process. I will start the tuition by asking the student the main things they are hoping to improve while working with me, and the things that they find they struggle with the most. I will acquaint myself with their course/set texts so that the conversations can be as productive as possible, and I will base each session on a particular aspect they are hoping to improve in, supplemented by reading exercises, writing exercises, further reading suggestions, going through pieces of work (e.g. essays, personal statement) together, and brainstorming together how to approach certain questions or topics. I have compiled all the criticism and feedback given to me during my three years at Oxford, so that I can not only give my own advice but also pass on the invaluable advice my Oxford tutors gave me, as well.
I am an English Language and Literature student and have just finished my final year at Pembroke College, University of Oxford, achieving a high 2.1 (67.2%). With my straight A* results through GCSE and A level, coupled with my experiences of successfully preparing for the ELAT and the rigorous Oxford interview process, I can offer a broad range of help for any stage during school, right up to and including university application and preparation. I have experience tutoring, having tutored primary school children in Latin during an outreach programme in sixth form, and I pride myself on making information accessible while remaining engaging and fun!
I am currently an English Language and Literature Finalist at Pembroke College, University of Oxford. Following my degree, I hope to pursue a career in advertising, marketing and communications which stems from skills developed so far throughout my undergraduate course; my discursive essays help me develop persuasive, coherent and polished arguments, while engaging in a challenging course that rigorously stimulates and cultivates my critical voice. Alongside my studies, I enjoy film photography and developing my capabilities in speaking French and Spanish (A/AS level standard respectively) and Mandarin (Beginner).
I am comfortable working within a team, having enjoyed the collaboration between myself and my fellow co-editor of the Pembroke magazine, while maintaining the confidence to assert myself as an industrious and conscientious individual, achieving a high 2:1 in my first year of study at Oxford.
Through a career in advertising I wish to champion progress, innovation and quality. With technology and the ways in which we use it continuously evolving, I am fascinated by the necessity of advertising being adaptable and forward-looking, in order to align with ever-changing consumer interests and social trends.
