Using Alter Ego A1, Panorama de la langue françaisse as textbooks. I also intend to use a traditional text book Cours de Langue et Civilisation Française published by Schoenhofs. I encourage students to listen to French as much as possible, whether this is on the discs which accompany Alter Ego. or to songs or podcasts available on Youtube, or on radios between classes. Listening to the language helps your ear and mind to memorise much better, in my opinion.
Speaking, listening, writing and singing help your senses to familiarise with sounds and words.
My first experience in teaching was as a French Language Assistant in 1996-97, I had mainly group sessions, my students were preparing BTech exams. I also had one to one sessions with students.

Betwen 2015 and 2018 I gave one to one French classes to two GCSE stuents who went on to pass their examinations with flying colours. My students’ confidence in themselves kept on growing.
Since 2018, I have been teaching colleagues of mine using a great deal of materials, text books such as Version Originale, or Alter Ego, as well as recordings. Teaching young people as well has been a reward.

Ideally I believe it is important to adapt to the needs of your students, what are their goals, how do you help them to build up confidence when learning French or any other language. I reassure , cheer up my students, and regularly check up that they understood what we have just done.
