Being a teacher gives me an insight and experience of what students go through every day - attempting problems and convincing themselves they cannot answer any of it. Dealing with different ages and abilities I understand that not one student is the same so I have a range of methods to answer specific questions; for example I have three separate ways to answer a multiplication question. I am very passionate about teaching and tutoring students because attempting to understand and complete a mathematical question can be hard and challenging whatever age you are. I like to give a good structure to my lessons; such as introduce a small starter set of questions to 'warm up' the brain, explain a set of examples before giving practice questions to the students to complete, and round off the lesson with a discussion or extra 'teaser' questions relating to the lesson to see what has been retained. I also have extensions throughout for an extra challenge.
I realise how significant occasions like these can be, and how much they can increase a person's confidence.
I am currently a Maths teacher in Oxford and have been teaching there for the past three years with classes of up to thirty students. I have been tutoring for the past two years on a one to one basis, and I have also tutored for three and a half years prior to this in a different school with groups of up to five students. All my teachings have been of all levels up to and including GCSE - foundation, intermediate and higher tier. All students at GCSE level passed with a C grade (level 4/5) or above with my guidance and support.
Holly, is a friendly and trustworthy tutor, who is dedicated to helping her students understand maths . Her passion and enthusiasm for the subject really shows, which helps make maths an enjoyable and interesting subject to learn.
Needed a tutor to polish my daughter’s maths before the exams. We liked her manner, professionalism and punctuality. You won’t be disappointed if you opt for Holly.
Holly is extremely competent in her ability to teach maths. She is approachable and enthusiastic in her approach and loves what she does!
Holly’s warm persona and knowledge helped to ease my boy’s fear of Maths.
I asked Holly to help my girls with their GCSE Maths revision. It was only for a short period (about 6 weeks) but the various strategies and methods she introduced gave the girls a better understanding and confidence for their exam.
I have known Holly for a number of years both personally and professionally. Over this time I have found her to be friendly, caring and trustworthy. She is punctual, enthusiastic, conscientious and disciplined but also had a sense of humour. All in all a hardworking and very likeable professional.
I worked with Holly for several years in Ynysawdre School. During that time I always found her approachable and pleasant and nothing seemed to be of any trouble. She was conscientious about improving her subject knowledge and took pride in doing her job as a professional. Holly was a person who wore her heart on her sleeve and honesty and trustworthiness were innate. During her time in our school she was held in high regard by both students and staff.
Holly is a very professional and motivational tutor. Her style is clear and encouraging with the focus on the understanding of a problem rather than just getting to the correct result. Holly is also very methodical in her approach which can be altered depending on the type of student, and their preferred learning style (I.e. visual, problem-solving...). I would highly recommend Holly as a trustworthy tutor.
Holly is an amazing teacher. She is incredibly patient, knowledgeable and so much fun! Her approach fills students with confidence and self-belief through her great understanding of who she is working with and what techniques best suit their individual needs. I would recommend Holly to anyone I know.
Holly is an excellent tutor: not only does she know exactly what she's talking about, but she's also able to break down information into clear 'nuggets'. Holly is dedicated and caring. She makes maths friendly and fun, and I couldn't recommend her enough!
