My main goal is to make people aware of the sophisticated beauty of chess. Thus, I never want to make my students feel overwhelmed; on the opposite, I want to stimulate their intellectual curiosity and motivate them by presenting chess as a challenge. After the first lessons, I become familiar with my student's strengths and weaknesses and create an action plan. When it comes to intermediate players, I cover openings, middlegames and endgames to help the students improve. When it comes to beginners, I go all the way to the basics in a fun, engaging way.
I have been playing chess competitively for more than 5 years. I have participated in several international competitions, such as World Youth Chess Championship. My current ELO (FIDE) for standard chess is 2057 and I am a Woman Candidate Master (WCM). I have previous teaching experience (taught middle school kids how to play chess - I love working with kids!). I am fluent in English. I study Computer Science at University College London.
Perfect! Maria is an excellent chess tutor who perfectly sees through all flaws in your game and thereafter corrects them using a wide range of material. I already feel I have better game vision from the first lessons and I am looking forward to seeing my skills further developing with the sessions.

Perfect! Maria is an exceptionally talented chess teacher. My daughter adores her lessons and is quickly gaining a strong foundation while having loads of fun. Maria continually challenges her yet manages to keep their time together light and engaging so my daughter finishes each lesson with a huge smile, eager for their next game! Highly recommended.
Perfect! Maria is a wonderful chess teacher. She's kind, patient and an excellent communicator. She's been teaching my 6-year-old daughter for several months now, first face to face and then online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My daughter absolutely loves her lessons, which are fun and varied, and she is now in love with chess. I could not recommend Maria more highly.
Perfect! I bought chess lesssons for my brother. He told me he had an excellent time and that Maria was a superb teacher. Would definitely recommend.
Maria is a very strong chess player with a deep understanding of the game, mixed with a kind personality. Which makes the lessons nice and easy to follow.
Maria is very knowledgeable about chess and teaches it well. I would not progress as quickly as I am in chess without my lessons with Maria.
