I really enjoyed teaching and I have solid experience in teaching French. I have taught French across different settings, including national French Alliances, university, secondary schools and primary schools. One of the highlights was my experience in the delivering French language lessons in an undergraduate programme at Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands. In this role, I was preparing the course materials online through Blackboard, and implemented various activities during classes in university (e.g., video challenges, exercises to work on the 4 differents language skills, innovative activities, role play etc.)
As a secondary school teacher, I planned my lessons thoroughly and this allowed me to effectively manage the behaviour of classes that have the potential to be challenging. I have solid knowledge of French and this facilitates significant progress in students’ learning. I understand the ways students think about the content of the lessons. I am able to engage students in evaluating their own thinking, identifying their common mistakes and allowing scope for improvements. I give students responsibility for their learning: working in groups, competitive edge to games; actively participating by completing tasks on the whiteboard, all of which increased engagement.
Additionally, I gained excellent experience in examining and assessing learners. While I was teaching in university I have created and marked the final exams. In secondary school I have examined pupils during oral and writing exams and have also organised continuous formative assessment (e.g., assessing the best poster about New Caledonia with a criteria grid to direct pupils). Finally, on several occassions, I have been part of the official team for marking DALF exam in the Netherlands.
How will be your first lesson?
We will speak about your needs (why do you want to learn French) and I will explain you how to use google drive to do exercises that I can check in the same time. I will then test a bit your 4 skills (listening/writing/reading/speaking) to situate your level. I will also ask you what are you interested in in general so I can use these topics through the lesson ( culture, gastronomy, news etc.)
Repetition is one of the keys in my teaching. You will become confident quickly. I will construct a pathway adapted to your objectives
I use different support materials and techniques, articles, videos, to try to make the lesson the most pleasant possible.
I will describe my experience and why I enjoy to teach my language.
First of all, I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (French). It is the official Diploma to be secondary teacher in UK.
I also hold further qualifications in teaching French as a Foreign Language (Master level) and a certificate which qualifies me as an examiner for the DALF test. As, besides French teaching, I have obtained a bachelor degree in Law in France, I can also help you develop your language skills in this specific domain.
