Patient Teacher in Primary Education with TEFL and SEN training in Cardiff

Methodology

I am a primary education teacher from Australia living in Cardiff, I have done Teaching English as a foreign language training and have a lot of experience with people who have additional needs (SEN). I have an interest in turning my career to online education to help as many people globally as possible, which will help my development as a teacher.

Experience

My teaching pedagogy is to provide lessons that are catered to the interests and abilities of my students, I thoroughly encourage questioning and real life relativity (explaining how it could be used in day to day life). They way that I teach strongly focuses on engagement, so the lessons are relevant and catch the attention of the student.

Jennifer's CV

I began my Bachelor of Arts with a Major in psychology and education in 2013, and completed it in 2015. I then went on to do my Masters of Primary Education in 2016 and completed my first year, and was offered a summer camp position for 2017 in America so I took a year off my degree. I completed my Masters degree in June 2018.
I am a newly qualified primary school teacher and have had multiple experiences planning and teaching classes through university placements as well as teaching casually. I have also previously done before and after school care along with tutoring students aged between 7-12, who require increased instruction and support. These experiences have allowed me to build my knowledge and skills in teaching children in different learning environments. I have also been taught how to differentiate my teaching so that it is accessible to all students equally, this ability has been improved through teaching and working with students who have additional needs.

Qualifications
• Masters of Primary Education (2018) – Western Sydney University
• Senior First Aid Certificate: Valid until 2020
• Mental Health First Aid Certificate
• Bachelor of Arts - Majors in Psychology and Education (2015) – Western Sydney University.
• Certificate 3 in Children’s Services (2012) – H&H Accredited Training.

Professional Experience
September 2019- Present Supply Teaching
I have been supply teaching in both London and Cardiff in a multitude of schools and have learnt a lot of different methods for engagement in education.

January – July 2019- Nursery Teaching
I was working as the Nursery Teacher at Rushy Meadow Primary Academy for 2 terms, until the end of academic year. I was responsible for the safeguarding and education of 23 children, as well as planning, classroom set up and covering PPA for other classes.

August 2018- Present – Casual Teaching at multiple schools in Western Sydney.
Teaching multiple classes of all ages and abilities, whilst adapting my lessons to suit every student students additional needs. As a casual teacher I have been contacted to work at 7 different school in multiple positions such as; relief from face to face and teaching students have additional needs. Each of these schools have different times for extra curricula activities and meeting along with the expectations of the school, in terms of behaviour expectations and consequences.
Through my experience as a casual teacher I have learnt that the best behaviour management technique is engagement. However some of the lessons I am left to teach aren't engaging so I have learnt to use multiple techniques to differentiate my teaching. I have been able to teach a large number of students as a casual and been successful at forming relationships with the staff and fellow teachers.
2018 - Campbelltown East Public School (University Placement)
• Managing students’ behaviour
• Planning Units of Work
• Professionally communicating with Parents and Fellow Teacher.

2016- 2018 - Volunteer Bush Fire Fighter (RFS)
• Working as part of a team in high stress situations
• Putting out fires, manoeuvring high risk paces to make it safe as a team

2017 – Camp Greentop, Maryland, America. (Camp Counsellor)
• Assisting people with additional needs with daily living
• Working in a 24/7 team through some high stress situations

2016 – Taiwan Educational Experience Program (Tutor)
• Tutoring 4 13 year old students on how to speak and write English.
• Prepare and teach inclusive and engaging activities to improve their comprehension.

2016 - Campbelltown Pubic School (University Placement)
• Assessing students and differentiate my teaching.
• Managing student behaviour and expectations.

As a casual teacher I have learnt to think on my feet and prepare lessons at a moments notice for all years of Primary school. I have also had multiple opportunities to develop my behaviour management techniques to ensure all students feel safe and capable of asking for help in my class.
Thank you for your time, and for considering me to fill this position.
