Lessons are tailored to the ability and ambitions of each individual student. With more advanced students I like to strike a balance between working on technique, sound variation and musical interpretation. With beginners I place greater emphasis on technique and sound quality. Regardless of the student's standard I like to ensure that lessons remain fun and never feel too formal; music is meant to be fun after all!
I have had experience teaching at a broad range of levels - from complete beginners to advanced cellists - and have loved every minute!
Having playing the cello for over 11 years I have completed Grade 8 and an ATCL Performance Diploma, receiving Distinctions in both. In addition to solo performance I enjoy playing in orchestras and chamber music groups. I am a regular attendee of Pro Corda, a prestigious ensemble training course, where I play alongside conservatoire level musicians.
I have also had teaching experience outside of cello playing; I spent 2/3 of a year tutoring GCSE English followed by 2/3 of a year tutoring Maths to A level standard.
I am incredibly passionate about teaching and am very eager to take on new students - both children and adults!

Perfect! Sacha has been teaching my 12 year old daughter the cello for the last few weeks.
I'm impressed with how much progress she has made in a short time as well as how enthusiastic she is to practice between lessons. Sacha has a calm, friendly and professional approach and is clearly a very talented musician.
Communication around arranging the lessons has been excellent and he is very punctual. I would recommend him without hesitation.
