To ensure that my students do not tune out and lose interest in what I am teaching, I use frequent pauses to ensure you have understood what you have just been explaining. For instance, I ask you to summarise the idea I have just espoused and if I am teaching a group tutorial, I ask students to summarise what they have just learned to each other. Alternatively, during pauses, I ask students to answer a short test or complete a problem using the skills I have just explained.
Always remember that I am not here to assess you, but to assist you on your way to success.
