Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Recorder [specialist in baroque interpretation and style] and music theory
- Tell me about your qualifications.
FTCL, LTCL[teachers] LLCM[TD] ALCM
- How much do you charge?
I charge £17 for a half hour lesson £25.50 for 45 mins and £34 for an hour. Most beginners start with half an hour but many wish to extend the lessons as they progress.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Aston near Stevenage Hertfordshire. A warm-up room and comfortable waiting room are always available for parents etc. In summer parents and drivers etc often sit in the garden next to the village pond.
- When are you available?
I teach on all week days and evenings. Saturdays are taken up with Trinity College of Music.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach beginner to diploma level and all ages. Several of my present pupils are adults who have found a new lease of life by playing music. Several pupils wish to learn music theory up to Grade 5 so they can take the higher ABRSM examinations.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Most of my pupils take Trinity exams as I can provide an excellent accompanist for these. I am quite happy to work towards ABRSM exams as well. I also prepare players for both ABRSM and TCL jazz exams which have proved to be both enjoyable and successful.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught most woodwind instruments for over forty years and now I play less professionally I have spaces for some new pupils. I am currently a teacher and ensemble coach at Trinity College of Music Junior Department
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a CRB enhanced certificate dated 9th March 2012
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied recorder, flute and clarinet at Trinity college of music. Tutors include Edgar Hunt and Richard Arnold.
