My name is Lizzy and I am a qualified Teacher with a PGCE in Secondary Religious Education. I graduated with a first class honours degree in Social Anthropology and a Masters in Human Rights and International Relations. I have worked for a year in a challenging school in Croydon and can offer tutoring both in Croydon and Kent. I have honed my teaching skills and can adapt these according to the individual. I love learning and teaching, using knowledge I already have a gaining more. We learn from each other, through experiences, and by sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas, we are growing in strength and understanding daily. I love watching people develop, understand and achieve their own goals. It brings so much pleasure to me to integrate and meet new people, inspiring others and being inspired along the way.
My teaching style comprises minimal talking on my part. Initially, I need to assess your strengths and weaknesses and understand why you are finding things challenging. I also assess what type of learner you are, whether you learn through doing, or through listening or reading, or all of the above! I tutor you based on the work you are required to complete for upcoming exams or based on the curriculum/course guide.
As a student, you can be sure that if you are not getting the information you need from me, or if I am not guiding you in the way you like, you will comfortable enough to tell me. I am personable and friendly, so you will always feel comfortable in my presence a freely ask me questions and also, learn to challenge me. This is a great skill to learn for any further study, particularly University.
I am here for whatever learning needs you have, I can cover Humanities, in particular Religious Education, Geography and Citizenship as well as English Literature and Language. Let me know how I can help.
I have experience lesson planning, writing assessments and schemes of work based around the national curriculum for geography and the non-statutory framework for RE. I have worked with young adult learners to older learners and I have tutored for GCSE and 11plus criteria.
On a personal level, having experienced the world of work from hospitality, administration, customer service in hospitals, restaurants, passenger ferries, gyms and office environments I learnt that life itself is all about learning, being inspired by people you meet and learning from experiences, good and bad as well as taking the time to reflect on ways you could handle people and situations in a more constructive and positive way. I have learnt this through my endless curiosity and by trying new and different things wherever I am, including learning about religions, taking on and participating in differing religious practices including
Ramadan, communion and prayer.
