PhD Biologist with 22 years of teaching experience offers online tuition in Biology and Chemistry

Methodology

Essentially learning is a two-way process. I will work with you to find a pathway that builds on your strengths but also helps to develop your relative weaknesses. Learning should be fun, and I will strive to produce resources that will engage and motivate you to succeed.

Background

I am a professional Biology teacher, with a PhD in neuroscience, postdoctoral research experience, and 22 years spent teaching Biology and Chemistry to A-level in a range of UK schools. For the past eight years, I have been assistant headteacher of a school in Devon. I have taught across the full ability range, and have extensive experience in helping SEN students to achieve their full potential.

Personal Statement
I am a professional Biologist with experience in both academic and educational sectors. Through my research commitments I have been able to gain expertise in proposing grant applications, research methodology, data processing and analysis, the communication of scientific ideas to a wider audience, and writing abstracts and papers for inclusion within international, refereed scientific journals. My educational career has enabled me to gain significant expertise in teaching Science to a wide range of children with differing needs. I have been able to work successfully at a senior managerial level alongside students at a Special school with moderate learning difficulties and, specifically, ASC, as well as with gifted and talented students within a selective grammar school environment.
