I teach beginners in music of all ages. I have taught mostly children but introduced music reading to several adults. In the first lesson, I usually begin with understanding what stage a student is at so I can modify classes for the individual. From there I can create a plan based on the goals of the student, whether that is to study for grades, play for fun, or just a new challenge.
If it is a group class, I generally do not have more than 4 students at once. This way I can still tailor lessons to the needs of the individual.
I am a flautist with a BA in Music and an MA in Psychology of Music. I have been playing flute for 17 years and teaching for the past 7. I have given individual and group lessons during this time.
Ellie has spent the last couple years tutoring her youngest sister and has done so brilliantly. Eve ( the younger sister ) can have an attitude at times and be a reluctant musician but throughout it all Ellie has shown immense patience and great teaching ability as she has helped Eve develop her talent with the flute.
Ellie’s patience is admirable, she is a calm tutor who always strives to bring the best out of her students. Having both a grade 8 in both theory and her flute practical, provides her the knowledge to ensure that students get the best education possible.
In my experience, Ellie is a very patient, supportive and talented tutor. She has an excellent way of explaining things and is very understanding when some things seem a difficult. Her genuine interest and love for the flute also makes it more fun to be taught by her. In other words, I would highly recommend if you are considering flute lessons!
