PhD neuroscience student at the University of Nottingham Student offering tutoring for aspiring psychology and neuroscience students in the area. I can also provide help with history and politics up

Methodology

My teaching method is to discuss as much as possible the psychological theories and studies that make the discipline so fascinating. I believe the best way for me to teach is to be a sounding board for the students to share ideas and their understanding of their studies whatever level they may be.

Experience

I am a Neuroscience PhD student at the University of Nottingham. I have a first class undergraduate and masters degree from the University of Leeds in BSc Psychology (international). I also passed and completed a year studying abroad at thee University of New South Wales in Sydney. I am a new teacher and would like to grow and learn with my students.

While my expertise is in neuroscience and psychology I also studied history and politics at A level achieving grades of A*A*A and could offer help with these subjects.

I believe that a core component of exam success is understanding how exams are marked and how students can focus on optimising their knowledge, and will focus on this in my tutoring.

Matthew's CV

Personal statement in support of my application

I am a very honest person and this trait can be seen in all my ventures, from sporting to academic. I always give my all and throw myself into any activity fervently. I am fiercely competitive and use this to strive to achieve my goals in all walks of life. I am a dedicated hard working person, evidenced by balancing work and A levels throughout college, and working whilst studying full time at university throughout my degree to date. I am always willing to have fun and enjoy myself, making the best of any situation I am thrown into. Having recently returned from Australia after a year the challenge of living and studying abroad is one that was incredibly worthwhile and shows my ability to be independent while studying and working abroad.

I have always loved sporting activities – playing football since the age of 6 for an academy and district teams, and more recently I have taken on the role of running my university psychology society’s 5 a side team, and have taken on responsibilities such as recruiting players, securing funding, and entering the team into an inter department league. My main sporting interest is now golf, and I have played for both junior and adult teams. I enjoy any outdoor activity and am always looking for new pursuits to try.
