My approach begins with an introduction to understand the students current level of knowledge and their aims. The lessons will involve outlining the method and showing an example, followed by working through an example together (led by the student) and this way the challenging part of the methodology becomes clear. Some additional work may be needed to explain this or working through this together may be enough. Finally, ensuring that the student can answer questions and solve problems with the methodology in question before assigning some questions to work on in their own time.
My PhD research is on aerodynamic design of a turbocharger. I have experience tutoring; one-to-one and groups, different levels from key stage 3 to 1st year university students, in person and virtual. I enjoy helping students understand methods in mathematics and see their confidence grow.
