At a university level, I focus on how to approach and tackle problems, and how to develop problem solving techniques which will allow the student to solve similar problems in the future. I aim to encourage their development as a scientist.
For students studying for their A-levels or Scottish Highers, I would focus first on understanding the course material, and we would then move to learning how to apply this material successfully to exams. In order to help students to the best of my ability, I will need advance knowledge of the exam board and the material they want to work on before we begin tutoring.
I offer a free 30 minute consultation for all students, so we can discuss the students needs, what they want to gain from tutoring, and how we will work together.
I am currently completing my doctorate in physics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, specialising in optics, quantum mechanics, and gravitational waves. I have three years of experience teaching at a university level, as well as private tutoring experience, and I am an associate fellow of Advance HE. I have a 1st class MSci in physics from the University of Bristol, and I am a passionate researcher and science communicator.
Perfect! Really knowledgable tutor!
Disha is a polite and receptive student, who I was happy to work with.
Perfect! Rosie is an extremely knowledgeable tutor! She is able to break down often really daunting Maths notation to a basic understandable level. Would recommend without hesitation!
David is a polite and friendly student who is very eager to learn and very easy to talk to. I am glad to have him as a tutee!
Rosie is a great tutor. She really listens and helps put me at ease. She tries to help me understand complicated theories in a lot of different ways and never gives up on me. Thank you for helping me.
I studied with Rosie for 4 years, and have experienced her tutoring me first hand. Rosie is a great teacher and always takes the time to explain in detail, and makes sure you have a thorough understanding. Rosie has a vast amount of knowledge and she is always excited to share this with others. I highly recommend Rosie as a tutor.
Rosie and I completed our undergraduate degrees together at Bristol, and during that time she was an incredible source of help and knowledge. We'd frequently study together, and Rosie's calm and patient approach to explaining concepts and problems, often very complex ones, was invaluable. She's excellent at breaking things down to make them simple to understand, and can deftly switch from one approach to another when it's clear a new angle would help. I'd completely and fully recommend her as a tutor.
Rosie is wonderful. She helped me through my degree with consistent patience and kindness. She is exceedingly intelligent but always found a way to explain things on my level. Her passion for physics is engaging and I highly recommend her as a tutor.
